St. Basil’s Cathedral, Moscow

Russia fascinates me.  A country with a long, colourful history.  Though it has steep traditions and its people have even deeper superstitions, things can change abruptly by decree.  The environment constantly tests the boundaries of ethics and logic, and creates artists with a heightened awareness to the capriciousness of human nature and of the heart that endures.  Dostoyevsky, Pushkin, Diaghilev, Nijinsky, are just a few of the ground-breaking artists who have ripped apart our placid facade and confronted the most dangerous parts of the human psyche.  And now, I will find out what that is. More to come…..
