This production of Kaash, performed by the Akram Khan Company, is a 2014 revival of the full-length piece that premiered 2002, which won Britain’s Critics’ Circle National Dance Award in that same year for Best Modern Choreography.  Running just under an hour, Kaash, meaning ‘if only’ in Hindi, blends contemporary dance with Kathak, a classical Indian dance form in which Khan first trained as a dancer.  It is also a fine collaboration with renowned composer Nitin Sawhney, for the score, and sculptor Anish Kapoor as set designer. Though the piece is strong enough to hold the stage as its own program, the contrast from one segment to the next made it seem fragmented.

Dancers in this performance were: Kristina Alleyne, Sadé Alleyne, Sarah Cerneaux, Sung Hoon Kim, Nicola Monaco.
